Our mission is...
“To deliver emergency medical and rescue helicopter services 24 hours per day, every day of the year, free of charge, whenever life or property is threatened."
The service has operated since 1982 and has flown more than 5800 missions. In 2009 the rescue helicopter has already flown 70 missions - averaging in excess of one a day.
While the service is FREE, saving lives comes with a cost. The annual budget to run the operation is $5 million of which the community contributes more than half.
