The Chamber’s vision is to position Ballina Shire as the region’s leader for business, industry, and services, whilst protecting its natural assets. To achieve this however, we need your support.
We also provide effective and enjoyable networking opportunities by way of our monthly Breakfast Before Business and Business After Hours Functions. With average attendance exceeding 50 our functions are known across the region as outstanding opportunities for networking with the key stakeholders of the Ballina business community.
Regular email updates to members along with frequent business education seminars, legislation forums and ‘industry specific’ facts nights all provide you with effective information dissemination in a time and cost effective manner.

What do we do?
- Pursue the development of a Marina at the Ballina Boat Harbour
- Pursue the development of a multi-level car park in the Ballina CBD
- Pursue the completion of the River Street Upgrade
- Represent business on issues such as electricity supply and the Ballina Bypass
- Promote the needs of Chamber Members and deal with specific issues as they arise
- Monthly “Breakfast Before Business” and “Business After Hours” networking functions
- Publication of a Business to Business Member’s Directory including member deals, business listings and local information – to be distributed shire wide. Members receive a free listing in this publication to the value of $110. Membership pays for itself!!
- Facilitate and assist the Ballina Retail Action Group (BRAG) in conjunction with the Economic Development Unit*
- Convene a series of workshops for Retail operators
- Convene a series of workshops for Trade and Industry operators
- Convene a number of Women in Business functions providing both relevant information and the opportunity for networking
- Continue to run the Business Excellence Awards programme (BEA), refine categories and strive to improve the judging process with the School of Commerce and Management, Southern Cross University
- Convene a series of workshops leading up to the 2006 BEA to assist business operators to work on their business and, of course, their submissions.
*2005 saw the commencement of a three-year programme to foster economic growth and development within Ballina Shire with the employment of a Community Economic Development Unit Officer, Jane Laverty. This position is being funded jointly by The Ballina Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Ballina Shire Council and Department of State & Regional Development. Having pursued an EDU for several years, this appointment represented a major achievement for The Chamber board.
